Posted: Wednesday, January 5, 2011 12:00 am | Updated: 5:00 pm, Wed Dec 19, 2012.

Jim Cramer, of Sedalia, wasn’t surprised to be drafted in 1942. He wanted to join the National Guard like his brother, but his parents wouldn’t let him because he was underage.

“I said, ‘Well, if I can’t go with him, I’ll just wait until they draft me,’ ” he said.
