Austin Reedy, a senior at Warsaw High School, received an ACT score of 31 and has earned a Bright Flight Scholarship Award for college.

This scholarship award provides an award of $2,000 to top-ranked high school seniors to attend approved Missouri postsecondary schools.

He is the son of Rodger and Rhonda Reedy. Laura Cooke is his high school counselor.


Northwest High School recently announced students named to the honor roll for the second quarter.

Students on

the A honor roll were:

Seventh-graders: Marissa Cornine, Ashlynn Liebl, Courtlin Sanders and Megan Walk.

Eighth-graders: Allison Barnes, Elina Blagonya, Alison Harding, Garren Powell and Brody Rayl.

Freshmen: Ali Chamberlin, Jessica Ehlers, Hanna Gregory, Kalvin Smith, Olga Trushenko and Paige Weathers.

Sophomores: Elesay Garnik, Elly Melnik, Tori Shireman, Lakota Wiskur, Keirra Yonce and Jessi Zimmerman.

Juniors: Morgan Demoss, Alyssa Durrill, Nelya Garnik, Tara Mitchell, Deanna Shcherbina, Christina Thompson, Makenzie Vance, Kendall Walk and Tatyana Zaytsev.

Marilyn Bernice Starke, of Kansas City, formerly of Sedalia, received a masters degree in public affairs from the University of Missouri-Columbia on Dec. 15. She graduated magna cum laude.

She is an honors graduate from Green Ridge High School, State Fair Community College and Stephens College in Columbia, where she received a bachelors degree in business administration.

She is the daughter of Isabelle Buchanan, of Sedalia, and sister of Bill Bell, of Sedalia, and Barbara Harrington, of Norfolk, Va. She lives in Kansas City with her husband, Gary Starke.
