The Knob Noster High School Concert Band (Class 3A) earned a “I” rating overall, by earning two straight “I’s” and a “I-“ from a panel of judges at State Music Contest on April 10.
The contest was hosted by band directors Steve Litwiller and Kim Hartley from Boonville High School. With this accomplishment, the Knob Noster Band achieved its 18th overall “I” rating in the past 25 years. The band was prepared by director David Robinson, with two special guest rehearsals conducted by Dr. Steven Moore, the University of Central Missouri’s Department Chair, and Dr. Scott Lubaroff, director of bands.
The band played two prepared pieces for a panel of three music educators from the Midwest region. The prepared pieces were “Fidelity March” by Karl King and “Sky Dance” by Richard Saucedo.
The public is invited to attend the band’s final concert at 7 p.m. May 3 in the school gymnasium. It will be Robinson’s final concert before retiring. The finale for the concert is Leroy Anderson’s “Buglars’ Holiday” with Robinson and a large trumpet ensemble of friends and former students playing the trumpet trio parts. Admission is free.
