Keelly Jones, of Sedalia, recently attended the Missouri Scholars Academy at the University of Missouri.
Students spent their time in an intensive classroom setting, studying one of four individually selected subjects, including mathematics, science, social studies and humanities
Students had an opportunity to hear from John Dau, one of the “Lost Boys of Sudan,” a group of child refugees from the Sudan who were orphaned after the second Sudan Civil War; and mathematician Curtis Cooper who discovered the largest prime number.
Jones, who attends Smith-Cotton High School, is the son of Rose Ellison. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the International Thespian Society and the National Forensics League. He is also involved in his high school’s show choir and drama club.
