UCM grad student appointed to school's Board of Governors

Posted: Tuesday, August 3, 2010 12:00 am | Updated: 10:24 am, Wed Sep 5, 2012.

Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed Darren Doherty, a University of Central Missouri graduate student from Blue Springs, to serve as the student member of the institution’s governing board.

Doherty’s appointment to the UCM Board of Governors will extend through Dec. 31, 2011. He replaces Ryan Sanders, of Foristell, whose term on the board expired. UCM’s Board of Governors, the university’s chief governing body, is composed of eight members who are appointed by the state’s governor. The student member of the board is the only non-voting member.
