Knob Noster students perform in honor band
Four Knob Noster High School students recently performed as members of all-district honor bands for the West Central Missouri Music Educators Association. Students auditioned for these honors in November. The clinic and concert was held Friday and Saturday at the University of Central Missouri.
Knob Noster junior clarinetist Sarah Abernathy earned a playing position in the top concert band named the WCMMEA Honor Band. She performed under the direction of Dr. J. Steven Moore, University of Central Missouri’s Music Department Chairman.
Three Knob Noster High School students — junior alto saxophonist John Abernathy, sophomore flutist Jalil Tuggle and sophomore trumpeter Rachel Palomo — earned chairs in the second concert band named the WCMMEA Honorable Mention Band. They performed under the direction of Aaron Bryan, vice president of Palen Music Center Inc. and former director of bands in Broken Arrow, Okla.
