The Missouri FFA Association recognized Carl Jason Arnett of the La Monte FFA Chapter as Area 8 Star Farmer at the 85th Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Gene and Sue Ann Arnett, of La Monte. His advisors are Macae McKinley and Marshall Streit.
Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture in the student's supervised agricultural experience and active participation in FFA. Area 8 includes 24 chapters in the Central District.
Arnett began his supervised agricultural experience by renting 10 acres to plant soybeans. During his years in FFA, he has expanded the acres he rents in addition to purchasing a 130-acre farm for soybean and corn production. Arnett also is a partner in a custom harvesting company, does custom dozer work and owns a small herd of beef heifers.
Arnett served as treasurer, sentinel and reporter in the La Monte FFA Chapter. He was the committee chairman for the La Monte FFA Tractor Pull, which raised more than $1,000 for the chapter. He has competed at the state level in the agricultural mechanics career development event.
Arnett was a member of the basketball and baseball teams in high school. He was a member of National Honor Society and the Church of Christ in Sedalia.
He is studying agricultural business at State Fair Community College. He plans to continue custom work, adding to his owned and rented land and expanding his cow herd.
He also received the State FFA Degree, the highest degree members can receive at state level.
