About 85 third graders participated after choosing a historically significant person and writing a report about why they are famous. The students worked on their presentations for about three weeks. For the living museum, the students remained still until the sticker on their hand was pressed; they then delivered their monologue in character.

Seth Estes and Patience McGinnis, in hats, portray two visitors to the rain forest wondering what makes the rainforest so special. Darcia Koetting, the class's teacher, said the play "Saving the Rainforest", was done by now-retired teacher Becky Garst about 20 years ago. "I started the play up about 8 to 10 years ago and we perform it for the parents at the end of the year," Koetting said.
The children decorated the classroom as part of their project of learning about the rain forest and the animals that inhabit it.
