The Pettis County Highway Department closed Meyers Road at the Flat Creek Bridge south of Upton Road at 4 p.m. Monday. The department is working on bridge repair and, weather permitting, it is expected to reopen Aug. 1.Motorist using that section of Meyers Road should plan to take an alternate route.The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to buckle up, slow down, follow posted signage and drive safely through work zones.

Luthier Eron Harding and Steve Cox, owners of Backwood’s Guitar LLC, are finding they are fast becoming the musician’s friend and on-call 911 doctors for all sort of stringed instrument repair.While Cox runs the store-front, Harding, as the luthier, repairs banjos, guitars, violins and other stringed instruments in the business’s basement.This week Harding will fly to Spokane, Wash., to speak at a conference for the Guild of American Luthiers.
The Sedalia City Council will once again have eight councilmembers if council votes to approve Mayor Steve Galliher’s recommendation to fill the Ward 2 seat during its meeting today.Galliher is recommending Russell Driskell to fill the Ward 2 seat vacated by former councilmember Becca La Strada two weeks ago due to health issues.
