Decades of teaching preschool children in the Missouri Valley Community Action Agency Early Head Start program in Sedalia has filled Debbie Newbill’s life with wonderful anecdotes of her young charges and made her realize she has followed her heart.For 37 years Newbill, 65, of Sedalia, has been a teacher with the program, serving 34 years at the Sedalia Buckner Head Start program, and then transferring to the program at the Sedalia Community Center at 314 S. Washington Ave. She assists teacher Amber Page in classroom No. 1. Soon she will be saying goodbye — she plans to retire Dec. 31.She began with the program because she was looking for a job, but never thought she would stay so long.
