Sedalia Area Farmers Market end-of-season countdown has begun — with only five to six weeks left in the market season visitors will find an assortment of fall vegetables, flowers and also baked goods.On Tuesday vendors such as Jean Schwartz, of Cole Camp, and Chantel Neal, of Leeton, were setting up their displays featuring pumpkins, squash, fall flowers and vegetables.Schwartz, owner of Show Me Produce, had a supply of heirloom Long Island Cheese pumpkins selling for $7. She said the pumpkins were great to eat but were beautiful enough for a fall display. During the the last of the season, that will end Friday Oct. 31, she will be bringing acorn squash, lettuce, kale, pea shoots, peppers and tomatoes and also her heirloom Thelma Sanders squash.


Lady Panthers tennis beats Richmond

Knob Noster edged Richmond 5-4 in an MRVC tennis match Tuesday in Richmond.Knob Noster lost both the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches by 8-6 scores but a win by Jessica Axton at No. 3 singles improved her record to 10-0 on the year and got things rolling for the Lady Panthers. Elizabeth Eccelton won the No. 4 singles match 8-3 and Alexis Allen won at No. 6 singles 8-3.In doubles play, Kirsten Orndoff and Allen won 8-0 and Axton and Eccelton won 8-4.

Sacred Heart golfers third at California

Sacred Heart took third at the California Tournament on Tuesday with a team score of 407, the lowest round the Gremlins have shot as a team this season.Olivia Sobaski shot a 4-over-par 76 to take runner-up honors, finishing three strokes behind Osage’s Taylor Hayes.Abby Smeltzer and Claire Sobaski shot 108s. Julianna Bourgeret shot a 115 and Anjanae Williams shot a 131 in her first varsity event.Sacred Heart will play in Marshall on Thursday.
