S-C JROTC performs at SFCC

On Jan. 25, the Smith-Cotton High School JROTC Unarmed Color Guard and Unarmed Drill Team performed at State Fair Community College. The color guard presented the colors before the boys' basketball game started. “This has been my second performance at one of their games. The team did very well this year,” says Cadet Capt, Khristian Bunce. The unarmed drill team performed during halftime.

School Scene: La Monte Elementary students raise Hoops for Heart funds

La Monte Elementary School students raised almost $150 for Hoops For Heart. The program promotes physical activity, healthy living and community service to children. Donations raised go to the American Heart Association for people who have suffered from heart disease or a stroke. Students participated in the six-week program, learning about shooting baskets, passing, dribbling and teamwork.
