“On the April 20 Opinion page is a commentary from Amy Lutz ... In her editorial about the cigarette tax, she uses the example of Michigan, which tripled its cigarette tax from $2.50 to $7.50, while losing 26 percent of their tobacco sales. But in doing that, they went from receiving $25 for every 100 packs of cigarettes sold, to receiving almost $55 on the remaining 73 packs that were sold — so they more than doubled the income by raising the tax. ... Her math is either bad or she thinks that we can’t do math. In either case, maybe it is time that we raise the cigarette tax.”

“I thought the TIMPO parents organization was for all the instrumental music students. Why do we only hear about what they are doing for the bands, and we never hear about the orchestra? I’m confused.”
