If you notice your neighbor has a 10-inch tall, colored statue of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, it does not belong to them!

I have a good idea for the Fantasia plant that (is closing) up. You can sell it ... and fill it with Tyson chickens. Then some of you people in Sedalia will know what it’s like out here in northeast Pettis County. I have learned one thing: if it’s not happening to you, no one cares. How many more chicken houses do we need? They are ruining Pettis County.

I’m sorry I had to work last Saturday, and I missed Herbert Kitchen’s speech. The paper reported that he said, “I grew up in a very loving and caring family where faith, family, education and hard work were valued.” That’s the answer for all of us on how to improve our own families and our society and our country, if we’d only pay attention.

Concerning the landfill problem, why don’t you find a way to adopt the free-cycle way and find a safe way to allow the public to get stuff that can be reused and let them take it for free. Freecycle.org was thought up to help keep landfills from filling up as fast. So give items in the landfill a new home by giving them to people who can use them.

I was going through Sedalia the other day, and I saw a sign on the State Fair signboard about a play that I wanted to go see. The name of it was “What the Bellhop Saw” and it was going to be over at Liberty Theater. So I went to see it. It’s the funniest play I ever saw in my life. Everybody in Sedalia ought to go see it. I don’t know who presented it, but they ought to be congratulated. Everybody in the cast did a great job.

The population of the Sedalia community, both inside and outside the city limits, is probably well over 30,000 people. The recent survey of the new high school name received 1,000 votes, 442 of which were from alumni. ... (Smith-Cotton High School received 776 votes). Sarah Smith Cotton is not paying for this property or this new building. We are. Let’s name it something to reflect the entire community, both native and transplant as well. Leave the Smith-Cotton name where it belongs, with the building at the corner of Broadway and Massachusetts. Why shouldn’t the new name reflect the present and future makeup of Sedalia, not a person from the past who will have no connection to the new building other than prepare the Smith-Cotton Middle School students for the new Sedalia High School or Sedalia Community High School?

I don’t understand why all the political analysts and newspaper reporters are excited over Obama’s win in what they keep calling all-white Iowa. Perhaps people of Iowa are like the people of Missouri. We judge candidates by their policy and their character, not their sex, race or religion. I definitely know I do.

Smoking ’possum tails could only be the reason for my sister-in-law’s tales. She continues to hallucinate. Those tails and tales are really potent stuff.
