I found a ípossum tail in front of my front door Monday. Hilarious. I laughed and laughed. ...
Looks like now itís become obvious that we know why Gov. Blunt is not running for re-election. No. 1 is he doesnít want to lose because heís behind in the polls. No. 2 is heís going to lose because heís behind in the polls. ...

Iíd like to say kudos to The Democrat on two articles that appeared in the editorial section. First, the one about stopping the bleeding. A Band-Aid is about all that this rebate is going to do and it is probably going to cause more problems than it does solutions. Itís just going to cause people to go out and spend money, maybe in a senseless way insetad of paying off debt. Second, I wanted to congratulate you on the article about the costsly health plan that the Democrats are proposing. I am a Democrat, a little bit left of center, and retired. I would also like to say that in the column Gene Lyons referring to the older peopleís ďGrand Ole Opry voteĒ kind of is a little bit of a slam becuase I do like the Grand Ole Opry. ...
This stimulus package that Congress wants to give back to the taxpayer, be smart, donít spend it. The consumer can play this game too. What will happen is the stock market will continue its yo-yo up and down. Donít panic and go out and buy a big-screen TV or take that trip to Caribbean. Just set tight. Hereís what will happen: they will cut you a bigger check next time. Maybe three times as big. Or maybe ten thousand. After all, theyíre not used to doling out small amounts. Get the picture? Good luck and happy spending.
