With less than a week before the Kaysinger Conference Track Meet on Thursday, Smithton, Sacred Heart, Tipton, Cole Camp, Otterville, Green Ridge and Stover sharpened performances and Smith-Cotton exercised its second unit Monday at the Smith-Cotton Tiger Invitational at Tiger Stadium in Sedalia.
On the boy’s side, Smith-Cotton collected 204.5 points to run away with the team victory. Lafayette County edged the S-C Lady Tigers 119 to 116.
Tipton’s boys placed fourth with 63 points, while Cole Camp and the Smith-Cotton junior varsity tied for fifth with 59.
Ashton Isaac represented Tipton in distance events, winning the boy’s 1,600 meter and 3,200 meter runs in 4:39.54 and 10:31.28, respectively.
Stover freshman Tobias Cannon was fifth in the 3,200 meter run behind Abraham Fernando and Irvin Zalpa of Smith-Cotton and Cameron Haeffner of Eugene.
The Cole Camp Lady Bluebirds finished fourth with 100 points.
Ellie Marimon won the 100 meter hurdles for Cole Camp in 18.30 seconds. Maddi Cook helped the Lady Bluebirds to two more victories. She and Lainy Williams cleared 5 feet in the girl’s high jump to take first and second, respectively.
Cook, Delaney Dougherty, Tori Harding and Tayler Gudde captured the 4×400 meter relay for Cole Camp in 4:17.21.
Gudde, Dougherty, Williams and Sydney Campbell took third in the 4×800 meter relay in 10:25.55.
Nia Hawkins of Smith-Cotton accumulated points in a dash, relay and field event.She won the girl’s 100 meter dash in 13.24 seconds, secured the girl’s long jump with a mark of 16 feet 4 inches and ran a leg of the girl’s 4×100 meter relay with Alyssa Hagan, Sophie Martin and Jorey Luebbert. Smith-Cotton won the event in 52.96 seconds.
Tyshawn Ward won the boy’s 100 meter dash for Smith-Cotton in 11.58. He and Breenan Akeson, Chandler Koetting and Zach Powell were victors in the 4×100 meter relay in 45.03.
In the boy’s 400 meter dash, Dmytro Matsko of Smith-Cotton was first in 52.63 seconds. Smithton’s Drew Apsher finished runner-up and Welton Vo-Smith of Cole Camp was third.
S-C Lady Tiger Estrellita Quetzecua beat Riley Hagedorn of Green Ridge and Abby Backes of Tipton to claim the 300 meter hurdles in 51.96 seconds. Viktor Tsymbal won the boy’s event in 42.60 for a Smith-Cotton sweep.
George Gomez captured the boy’s 800 meter run for Smith-Cotton in 2:09.60.
The Smith-Cotton boys dominated field events. Keoni Hale won the triple jump with a mark of 42-11, Korbin Scott won javelin with a mark of 126-3 and Nate McFail took pole vault, clearing 13-1.
