Stover beat Northwest 49-25 in the Pilot Grove Tiger Classic on Saturday.

Jensen Bauer led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points. Eleanor Oehrke added 15 and Ashley Schroder scored 12.

In other tournament action, Prairie Home beat Pilot Grove 68-50 to win the tournament championship.


Smith-Cotton freshmen and sophomores were a combined 35-17 at the Truman JV Tournament on Saturday.

Six Tigers took home first place. At 126 pounds, Brennan Akeson was 5-0. Justin Osburn won the 138-pound red division with a 4-0 record. Nate McFail won the 138 blue division with a 5-0 record. Jayden Uptegrove was 4-0 to win 152 blue. Brandon Neale won 160 blue with a 3-0 record. Trent Johnson was 3-0, winning the 220 blue division.

At 106 pounds, Younger Layton took second in the red division with a 2-1 record. Cody Collins was 2-3 to take fifth at 132. Ian Humphreys was 1-1 to take second at 132. Brody Kindle was third at 138 with a 2-2 record. Colin Polley was fourth at 152 with a 2-3 record. Jonzel Washington took third at 152 pounds with a 2-2 record. At 182, Jared Brown was second with a 2-1 record. At 220, Bryce Johnson went 2-1 to take second.

“Our young kids have shown great improvement from their first tournament,” said S-C assistant wrestling coach Tommy Kindle. “They have been able to take the things that we drill in practice and use those things during live matches. We are really impressed with their drive to win and their desire to always learn more. This group of youngsters have really come together as a team, they are always matside cheering for their teammates and always support each other win or lose.”

Cole Camp 68, Tipton 57

Cole Camp beat Tipton 68-57 on Friday, outscoring the Cardinals 21-7 in the third quarter to take the lead in a game Tipton had led 28-27 at halftime.

Alex Pritzel scored 22 points to lead the Bluebirds. Adisen Harms added 19 points.

Bryce Sanders led Tipton with 26 points. Jimmy Upton had 17 points.

Cole Camp (4-2, 1-1 Kaysinger) will host Versailles on Tuesday.

Nevada 56, Smith-Cotton 42

The Smith-Cotton boys basketball team was handed it’s first loss of the season Frday, 56-42 at Nevada.

S-C struggled all night to find the basket, shooting 23 percent from the field. Smith-Cotton was 11 of 33 on two-pointers and 3 of 23 from 3-point range.

Nevada’s duo of Matt Sommer and Clay Gaymen dominated offensively scoring 20 each.

Dante Scroggins led S-C with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Zion Buckner had nine points.

Smith-Cotton (5-1, 0-1 WCC) will host Clinton at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
