Sacred Heart sent three seniors off with a 63-17 nonconference win over Kingsville on Thursday at home.

Ive learned everything Ive learned in this gym, said senior guard Kaitlyn Sunnarborg. I cant believe its my last game and now its just on to the next thing.

In a ceremony before the game, Sacred Heart honored all of its seniors, including girls basketball players Sunnarborg, Sydney Smith and Kayla Holland.

I think it pumps all the team up because you have a bigger crowd and people are excited to see you, Smith said.

Sacred Heart jumped out to a 12-0 lead as Sunnarborg hit a pair of 3-pointers and Holland hit a basket inside and put back a miss.

Holland led all scorers with 15 points, with three of her baskets coming off offensive rebounds.

(I was) just trying to follow the ball, she said. See where its going to land and go at it.

After Kingsville got a basket from Kelsey Herring, Sacred Heart scored the next 16 points. Holland capped off the run with a basket inside to make it 28-2.

The Gremlins led 39-5 at the half after Sunnarborg hit another 3-pointer, her third of the game.

Sacred Heart opened the second half with a 10-0 run. After a jumper by Claudia Cox, Sunnarborg got her sixth steal of the game, leading to a jumper by Holland.

Ive definitely tried to get lower, Sunnarborg said. Just watch for the crossover and just have my hand there and just wait for their pattern dribbling and just go for it.

Sacred Heart got scoring from 11 different players. Sunnarborg had nine points. Sydney Eichholz and Lauron Tanguay each had eight.

Herring scored 12 to lead Kingsville.

The win is Sacred Hearts seventh in a row as the Gremlins finished the regular season 12-14 and finished the home careers of three seniors.

Its very bittersweet, Holland said.

Sacred Heart will open district play against host Sweet Springs at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
