The Knob Noster Panthers knocked off the fifth-ranked boys basketball team in Missouri Class 3 on Friday night with a 59-52 overtime win over Higginsville at Knob Noster High School.
The Panthers (16-5, 4-2 Missouri River Valley Conference East) started strong, leading 15-7 after one quarter and 23-15 after two. Higginsville, which suffered its first loss of the season, tied the score at 36 after three quarters and the game was tied at 52 at the end of regulation.
David Barton paced Knob Noster with 20 points and 15 rebounds, and Brett Marsh had 19 points and a team-high four steals.
Landon Figg led Higginsville with 19 points, and Mark Fine had 14.
I am very proud of the men tonight, Knob Noster coach Adam Easterwood said. We got a little bit of everything tonight. Early success and an exciting finish. Through all that, the men were able to keep their composure and come away with a qualify win versus a very good ballclub.
