Tipton moved half-game ahead of Green Ridge in a battle for third place in boys basketball in the Kaysinger Conference with an 81-66 over the Tigers on Thursday at Tipton.


The Cardinals took a 23-7 lead after one quarter but Green Ridge rallied in the second to cut the lead to 37-36 at halftime. Tipton outscored the Tigers 20-10 in the third to pull away.


Conner Dillon led Green Ridge with 15 points. Axton Harding scored 13 and Justin McCarthy added 10. Austin Story had 11 rebounds and three blocks.


Tipton (13-5, 7-2) will face Northwest in the Kaysinger Conference Tournament at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.


Green Ridge (15-6, 6-2) will face Windsor in the Kaysinger Conference Tournament at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
