Kody McFarland’s 13 strikeouts and a five-run eighth inning lifted the Sedalia Bombers past the Omaha Diamond Spirit 8-6 in a MINK League baseball game Monday at Omaha, Neb.
McFarland pitched six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, but got the no-decision, giving way to Sam Perez who pitched three innings in relief for the win.
Trailing 4-3 heading into the top of the eighth, the Bombers scored five runs. With runners on the corners, Curtiss Bunch singled to drive home Tony Sandifer. White scored on a wild pitch, and Mylz Jones, who went 3 for 5, followed with a double to score Bunch. An error allowed Zack Weigel and Jones to score.
The Bombers (15-11) opened the scoring when Cody Webster singled in the third to drive in Jones. In the fourth inning, a Weigel double drove home Sandifer and Bunch.
Despite the win, Sedalia could not gain any ground on first-place Nevada in the South division standings. Nevada beat Joplin 5-2 Monday.
