The Smith-Cotton boys track and field team qualified for state in three events Saturday in the Class 4, Sectional 3 meet at Ozark.


Jacob Lamb qualified in all three. He was third in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 1.44 seconds, beating his seed time of 2:02.79. Spencer Haik, of Glendale, won in 2:00.13.


Lamb helped two relay teams advance.


Lamb, Brady Ritzert, Kylen Williams and Luke Rosendale were third in the 4x800 in 8:15.3. They beat their seed time by 5.3 seconds. A team from Carthage won in 8:11.67.


David Desmond, Luke Guier, Lamb, Rosendale were third in the 4x400 in 3:27.88. A team from Webb City won in 3:26.49.


Chance Johnson just missed qualifying for state with a fifth-place finish in the high jump. He leaped 6 feet, 1 inch, beating his seed jump of 6 feet. Garrett Metscher, of Republic, won with 6-7.


The state meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.  Events begin at 11 a.m. each day.
