Girls prep basketball: Pleasant Hope 66, Warsaw 40

Top-seeded Pleasant Hope ended the Warsaw Wildcats’ season in the first round of the Class 3, District 13 girls basketball tournament Monday at Butler High School.

The Wildcats put up a fight, but Pleasant Hope  won 66-40. They cut their deficit to two points (25-23) in the third quarter, but the top seed closed the period with a 14-6 run to take a 39-29 lead into the final quarter.

The top seed led 16-9 after one quarter and 25-20 after two.

Chelsea Murphy paced Warsaw with 13 points, and Erica Weaver had seven.

Warsaw finished the season with a 5-20 record.
