Three former Smith-Cotton High School students were inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony Friday in the school's gymnasium. From left, are Norris Kelley, class of 1956, Van Van Dyne, accepting the award for his father, Charles Van Dyne, class of 1919, and Libby Howard, class of 1994. Kelley was a standout in football and track and was named in his senior year to Scholastic Magazine's High School All-American Football Team. Charles Van Dyne excelled in multiple sports in high school but gained notoriety when recognized as one of the country's best collegiate football players while at the University of Missouri. Libby Howard played multiple sports but got into the record books by winning two individual state golf championships, back-to-back, and helped her team to four straight state team titles.
