Prep wrestling: Knob Noster's Morgan wins state championship

Derek Morgan, of Knob Noster, won his first state wrestling championship Saturday in the Class 1 state meet at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

Morgan (47-2) won the 220-pound weight class with a 5-2 decision over Josh Riggs, of Maysville.

Morganís teammates, Taylor Rogalski and Nick Vansell, finished fifth in their weight classes.

Rogalski won the 106-pound division. He won by injury default over Coby Seiz, of Holden.

Vansell beat Stephen Conway, of OíHara, 7-0 in the 182-pound class.

Marshall Wilson, of Warsaw, finished fifth at 113 pounds. He pinned Quentin Cotten, of Seneca, in 44 seconds.

Knob Noster finished eighth in the state with 76.5 points. Whitfield won with 126.

Warsaw was 23rd with 26.5 points.
