State golf tournaments at a glance
Hereís a list of local golfers who have qualified for the state tournaments that begin Monday.
Rivercut Golf Course
Par 72, 7,000 yards
After carding a 330 to finish five strokes ahead of the Gremlins in the District 6 tournament at the par-72 Clinton Country Club, the Cardinals will make their 11th appearance at state. †
With a strong core of golfers, the Cardinals will have their eyes on the programís fifth state title in eight years and sixth overall.
Tiptonís No. 1 golfer, Isaac Garber, leads the charge after winning the district tournament with a 76. The junior, who finished eighth at state last year, will tee off at 8 a.m.
Ethan Koechner, who carded a 79 at the district tournament, will tee off at 8:09 a.m. and Zach Combs, who shot an 86, will tee off at 8:18 a.m. Grant Davis, who shot an 89, will follow at 8:27 a.m. and Romy Brant, who shot a 91, will tee off at 8:36 a.m.
The Gremlins finished second at state last season and will have a chance to equal or better that finish this year. However, they will take only four golfers to state because they finished second in the District 6 tournament. Only the top 10 individuals not on the district championship team advance to state. The district winner will take all five golfers and will have the ability to throw out its worst individual score.
Jared Dey will be the first to tee off at 8:45 a.m. Monday, followed by John Beykirch at 8:54 a.m., Garrett Kelchner at 9:03 a.m. and David Baldwin at 9:12 a.m.
Buddy Dill, who was medalist in eight of his nine regular-season matches and finished second to Sacred Heartís Jared Dey in the Kaysinger Conference tournament with a 74, will tee off at 8:54 a.m. Teammate Terry Bickers will tee off at 9:48 a.m.
Jordan Haag placed 11th with a 105 in the District 4 tournament on the par-72 Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield. He will tee off at 10:06 a.m.
Trevor Warlen finished 15th with a 95 in the District 6 tournament at Clinton County Club. He will tee off at 10:15 a.m.
Silo Ridge Golf Club
Par 72, 6,840 yards
The Wildcats won their first district golf championship this spring and will send their entire team to the state tournament.
Cody Hugunin and Clint Schwach competed as individual qualifiers at last yearís state tournament. Schwach tied for 86th with a two-day total of 182 and Hugunin tied for 110th with 192 in the 122-player field at par-72 Deer Lake Golf Course in Springfield.
Hugunin will tee off at 8 a.m. Schwach will follow at 8:09 a.m. Corey Stackhouse will tee off at 8:18 a.m. John Caswell at 8:27 a.m. John Ward at 8:36 a.m.
Justin Connors tied for ninth with a 17-over 88 in the District 7 tournament at Shirkey Golf Club near Richmond. He will tee at 9:30 a.m.
The Tigers will send Tyler Glynn and two first-timers to the state tournament.
Glynn tied for third with a 10-over 82 in the District 4 tournament at Redfield Golf and Country Club near Eugene. Kyle Nolawski and Logan Salaki tied 12th at 14-over.
Glynn will tee off at 9:12 a.m., Nolawski† at 9:57 a.m., and Logan Salaki at 10:06 a.m.
