Payton Scarburough’s second RBI double of the game plated Eric Swain in the eighth inning and the St. Joseph Mustangs edged the Sedalia Bombers 2-1 on Thursday in a rematch of last year’s MINK League championship series.
Trevor Richards (2-4) took the loss for the Bombers, allowing two runs on eight hits in 7 2-3 innings.
Former Bomber Aaron Baker (5-1) got the win for St. Joseph, allowing one run on seven hits in a complete-game effort.
Scarburough’s RBI double gave the Mustangs (14-12) a 1-0 lead in the third inning.
Sedalia tied the game in the sixth when Ty White’s groundout scored Zach Lavy, who had doubled earlier in the inning.
White, Lavy and Zach Weigel each had two hits for the second-place Bombers (16-12), who are 2 1/2 games back of Nevada in the South Division.
