The State Fair men’s basketball team used its depth Saturday to beat Lincoln (Ill.) College 85-81 in the second round of the John Wood Classic in Quincy, Ill.
In a game where the lead changed hands 12 times and the score was tied eight times, the Roadrunners’ bench outscored its counterpart 20-4.
Ben Denbow and Dashawn Stitt tallied nine points each in reserve roles.
Kenny Chery paced State Fair with 22 points, Joe Thomasson added 16 and Jacob Williams had 13.
Chery tallied a team-high six assists, and Williams paced the Roadrunners with seven rebounds — three on the offensive end.
Aaron Simpson and Jovaughn Gaines did most of the damage for Lincoln (7-4). Simpson scored a game-high 30 points, and Gaines had 28. Each player made four 3-pointers.
The Roadrunners (10-3) will host Iowa Western at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
