The Smith-Cotton Tigers brought home six first-place finishes on Tuesday from a five-team track and field meet in Warrensburg.
Michael Chernookiy won the 300-meter hurdles (45.2 seconds), Austin LaBoube won the 200 (24.9), Marques Ray won the 110 hurdles (17.83) and the Tigers’ 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams won their races.
Blaine Sarabia, LaBoube, Derrick Kerbo and Blake Longan won the 4x100 in 47 seconds.
Brady Ritzert, David Desmond, Kylen Williams and Jacob Lamb, won the 4x400 in 3:42.
Zach Wolf won the triple jump with a leap of 40 feet, 6 inches.
The following S-C athletes were runners-up in their events: Chernookiy (110 hurdles, 17.88), Luke Rosendale (100, 11.74), Carlton Homan (shot put, 37 feet), Kerbo (triple jump, 39 feet, 5 inches), Zac Volk (pole vault, 11-6), the 4x200 relay team (1:42) and the 4x800 relay team (9:07).
On the girls side, the Lady Tigers placed second in three events.
Rachel Howieson was the runner-up in the 1600 (6 minutes, 12 seconds). Marionna Ward was second in the 200 (28.92), and Miranda Marshall, Alexa Sproles, Allison Sproles and Ward were second in the 4x100 (57.02).
The girls 4x400 relay team finished third in 5:06.
