The Sacred Heart boys tennis team had a third-place showing from a doubles team and a fourth place from a singles player in the Class 1, District 8 tournament Saturday in Marshall.
The doubles team of Ky Oh and Jay Kim beat Jordan Wilson and Adam Schoening, of School of the Osage, in the third-place game 10-3. Oh and Kim fell in the semifinal to Adam Keith and Ryan Curran, of Osage, the eventual district champions.
“I really enjoyed watching Ky and Jay play together this season,” said Sacred Heart coach Susie Thompson. “They really work well as a team, and their games complement each other nicely. They are terrific young men who have very bright futures ahead of them.”
In singles play, Chris Stratton took fourth place, falling in three sets to eventual district runner-up Jacob Ringlen, of Marshall, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
Sacred Heart’s Erin Keethler lost in the first round to Marshall’s Ryan Vereyken 6-1, 6-0.
The Gremlins’ doubles team of Jimmi Villalobos and Grace Callis beat a team from Father Tolton 6-1, 6-0 in the first round before falling to Marshall’s Garritt Murphy and John Hadley 6-1, 6-0.
