Dany Coulombe struck out the potential go-ahead run with two outs in the ninth inning Saturday, and the fourth-ranked Central Missouri Mules held off Nebraska-Kearney 9-8.

Brian Wuest’s three-run homer bolstered UNK’s rally.

Travis Higgs (2-0) allowed five runs — two earned — on five hits in 6 2-3 innings. Coulombe retired the only batter he faced to record his first save.

Kyle Grieshaber and John Oropeza each finished with two hits and two RBIs for the Mules, who took two of the three games in the MIAA baseball series.
