College baseball: Mules' season ends at regional
The Central Missouri Mules baseball team couldn’t cash in on their scoring opportunities Saturday in a 4-1 loss to Southern Arkansas in an NCAA D-II Central Regional elimination game in Mankato, Minn.
The Mules had seven hits and drew two walks, but eight the baserunners were stranded.
Kyle Grieshaber’s single to left drove home their only run in the sixth inning, but Southern Arkansas had already taken a 4-0 lead.
Trevor Jones had two of the Mules’ hits, going 2 for 3.
Timothy Buchanan picked up the win, striking out three in nine innings. Chris Fitzpatrick (3-1) was charged with the loss. He yielded four runs — three earned — on eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk in 2 2-3 innings.
The Mules ended their season at 36-13.
