The new-look Smith-Cotton boys tennis began the season on a high note Monday night, sweeping host Knob Noster in singles and doubles play for a 9-0 win.
Despite losing their top three players to graduation, the Tigers swept the Panthers for the second-straight year.
Adam Tilley, Ryan Bell and Keaton Schnell each won their matches 8-2 in the top three spots while Michael Lake defeated Connor Heavner 8-5 in the No. 4 role. Chet Krouse defeated Brandon Shields 8-6 and Billy Grose shut out Kendal Jackson 8-0 to anchor singles play.
In doubles play, Tilley and Bell pulled out an 8-3 win, Schnell and Krouse followed up with 8-6 victory and Lake and Grose capped off the day with a 8-1 decision.
