State Fair defense throttles Allen County

The Sedalia Democrat

State Fair Community College revved up its defense Saturday night in a 61-46 victory over Allen County.

The Roadrunners built a 32-18 halftime lead in the second-round game of the Allen County Classic men’s basketball tournament in Iola, Kan.

“We played very well defensively,” SFCC coach Dale Ribble said. “I thought our team did a good job of cutting down on their dribble penetration. ... They blocked out and rebounded the ball well.”

Justyn Watkins paced SFCC with 19 points. Jay Lee and Matt Webb scored nine apiece.

The Roadrunners (3-1) will face North Central at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Trenton before returning home for the SFCC Classic.

Friday’s schedule features Westminster JV vs. Missouri State-West Plains at 3:30 p.m. and State Fair vs. Forest Park at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, West Plains will meet Forest Park at 3:30 p.m. and the Roadrunners will host the Westminster JV at 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Roadrunners will participate in the tournament.

On Friday, Three Rivers will meet Kaskaskia at 1:30 p.m. and State Fair will host Lincoln Trail at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday’s schedule features Three Rivers vs. Lincoln Trail at 1:30 p.m. and State Fair vs. Kaskaskia at 5:30 p.m.
