State Fair controls Valley JV in Classic win

The Sedalia Democrat

From start to finish, the State Fair Community College Roadrunners dominated play Saturday night in the McDonald’s Classic.

An effective transition game and elusive guard play propelled SFCC over the Missouri Valley College junior varsity 80-40 at Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.

State Fair (2-0) held the Vikings to one point in the final 7:21 of the opening half to grab a 48-14 lead at halftime.

During that span, State Fair converted from all areas of the floor to cap a 25-1 run.

Three Roadrunners were in double figures at intermission, including Jay Lee who had 14 points.

Five minutes into the second half, Justyn Watkins raced the length of the floor off a turnover and completed the fast break with a dunk.

The basket gave SFCC a 54-19 lead and the Roadrunners never looked back.

Five players scored double figures for State Fair.

Lee led all scorers with 16 points. Watkins chipped in with 14.

D’Angelo Dunbar led Missouri Valley with 10 points.
