College women's basketball: North Arkansas 95, State Fair 83

The State Fair Community College women’s basketball team lost three-straight games for the first time this season, falling 95-83 on Thursday to North Arkansas in Harrison, Ark.

The Lady Roadrunners (14-6) led by as many as 18 points in the first half and held a 46-38 lead at the break, but the difference between halves was “night and day,” coach Kevin Bucher said. The 95 points is the most State Fair has allowed this season.

“In the second half, we shot the ball quick and started not playing defense,” Bucher said. “When you give up 95 points, that’s not a good defensive effort. We got the lead down to four several times, but couldn’t stop their players from running the floor. They had some good shooters, but our defense was just not very good. ... We’re not going in the right direction.”

Ariel Easton had 21 points to pace the Lady Roadrunners, who beat North Arkansas 79-70 in November at home. Alexas Brown chipped in 15, Brittany Silas had 11 and Jermisha Watson added nine.

Jamie Buehrig had seven rebounds and Ryneka Church dished out six assists.

The Lady Roadrunners will get another shot at the team that started them on the losing streak when they host Iowa Western in a Region 16 game on Tuesday.
