Hockett captures victory No. 100

Warsaw resident Jesse Hockett won his 100th career feature race, and two Sedalians won points championships Sunday night at Double-X Speedway.
Evan Martin took the early lead in the winged sprint feature race at the rural California, Mo., track.
Jonathan Cornell, of Sedalia, chased him down quickly, though, to take the lead.
Curtis Evans held the third spot until Hockett overtook him.
Hockett worked his way into second and passed Cornell when the latter made contact with a lapped car.
Cornell, who was crowned the series points champion afterward, finished second. Martin was third, Evans fourth and California’s Tyler Blank fifth.
Blank finished second to Cornell for the season title, coming up 103 points short.
Jeremy Gordon, of Sedalia, won Sunday’s feature race and the points championship in the hobby stocks class.
Ronnie Livengood, of Sedalia, challenged Gordon throughout the feature race but settled for second place.
Mike Barten was third, Krissi Herrbach fourth and Mike Schrader, of Sedalia, was fifth.
Schrader finished second in the points race, 128 behind Gordon, who won more points than any other driver this season.
Harlan Dowell, of Tipton, won the street stocks points championship after capturing his fifth feature win of the season.
John Clancy Jr. placed second in the race, Ray Smith was third, Tim Cressley fourth and Curtis Turpin was fifth.
