    UNDER WAY
    Youth Leagues Forming
    Green Ridge residents are organizing a boys and girls baseball and softball league for the spring of 2009. The league will consist of four four-team divisions: ages 6-9, 10-12, 13-15 and 16-and-older. Besides Green Ridge, teams from Cole Camp, Houstonia, Hughesville, La Monte, Lincoln, Smithton, Sweet Springs and Windsor are encouraged to enter.     PKSA Coaches Meeting
    The Paul Klover Soccer Association’s fall season coaches meeting/draft night will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Convention Hall in Liberty Park. For more information,  call Jason at 826-5146.

    AUG. 11
    S-C Girls Tennis Practice
    The first practice for the Smith-Cotton girls tennis team will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at the Liberty Park tennis courts. Coach Kaley Hobbs asks that players bring a raquet and a properly completed physical for if you have not already turned one in to the district.

    S-C Girls Golf Practice
    The first practice for the Smith-Cotton girls golf team will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at Sedalia Country Club. For more information, call B.J. Curry at 827-7039.

    AUG. 16
    HAVOC Tryouts
    The Missouri HAVOC competitive fastpitch traveling softball team will hold tryouts for the 2009 season for under-10, U12 and U14 teams at 9 a.m. Aug. 16 at Centennial Park.     Y.E.S. Softball Tryouts
    Youth Excited about Sports will host softball tryouts for its fall league Aug. 16 and 17 at the Y.E.S. Complex at 501 N. Maguire in Warrensburg. Tryouts will begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 16 for players 10-and-under and 6 p.m. for the 12-and-under team. The 14-and-under tryouts will start at 2 p.m. Aug. 17 and the 16-and-under tryouts begin at 6 p.m. For more information, call (660) 909-6797.

    Y.E.S. Volleyball Tryouts
    Youth Excited about Sports will hold volleyball tryouts Aug. 23 at the Y.E.S. Complex at 501 N. Maguire in Warrensburg. Those entering the third or fourth grades will try out from 9 a.m. to noon, and fifth- through seventh-graders will try out from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, call (660) 909-6797.

    PKSA Referee Clinic
    The Paul Klover Soccer Association will host an entry-level soccer referee clinic Aug. 30 and 31 at Convention Hall in Liberty Park. The clinic will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 30 and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 31. Anyone interested may register online at www.cdsoccer.org under the entry level clinics calendar.     SEPT. 13
    Children’s Fishing Derby

    Fun Fly Day
    The Sedalia RC Flyers will hold a Fun Fly on Sept. 20 at the Flyers’ facility. The event is open to the public. Flyers must have an AMA card to participate. For more information, call James Kilby at 221-7237.
