Two drivers from Sedalia took home checkered flags at Double X Speedway in California on Sunday.
Jonathan Cornell won the sprint car feature and Jeremy Gordon won the hobby stock race. The wins helped both maintain their overall points leads in their respective classes.
Gordon finished ahead of fellow Sedalian Mike Schrader, who is in third in the points standings, just 13 points behind second place Krissi Herrbach.
Cornell worked his way through lap traffic in the sprint race to hold onto the lead for most of the race, finishing in front of California’s Evan Martin. Cornell now has 801 points, well ahead of Norborne’s Curtis Evans, who is in second with 680 points.
Tipton’s Boy Dowell took second in street stocks, losing a battle with Centertown’s Ray Smith for the top spot. Tipton’s Greg Holdren took third in the race and is second in the season standings, trailing Harlan Dowell by 173 points.
