Rider wins on home turf

La Monte’s Danny Schlobohm felt right at home Friday night in the National Federation of Professional Bullriders Extravaganza.
Schlobohm beat Seth Reynolds, of Lockwood, 176.5-176 to win the first night of the two-day event at Mathewson Exhibition Center.
Schlobohm, who has been riding bulls for about 10 years, won $1,088.51. Reynolds took home $824.63.
A competitor in both the NFPB and Professional Bull Riders series, Schlobohm, was in fourth place following the long round and used his performance in the short round to win the competition. Only the top six riders from the first round advanced.
“I got on a really good bull” in the short round, Schlobohm said Monday, his 23rd birthday. “He came out of there and made one really big jump and spun really fast. I got lucky and stayed with him.”
Corey Davis placed third with 173.5 points, earning $593.73. Craig Sasse was fourth with 167.5 points, earning $395.82.
Curtis Seamans, who entering the night fourth in the series standings, took fifth with 89.5 points, taking home $230.90. Jimmie Parrott was sixth with 87 points, winning $164.93.
Davis won the second night, beating series leader Skeeter Kingsolver by one-half point. Davis scored 176 points, while Kingsolver had 175.5.
Reynolds placed third with 174.5 points. Jim Kreke was fourth with 90.5.
Dusty Green finished fifth with 88 points, and Chance Roberts was sixth with 87.
The prize money for the top six finishers was the same as Friday night.
Kingsolver added to his lead in the standings, pushing his total earnings to $17,452.36.
Seamans moved into second place. His total earnings are now $13,115.35. Jody Newberry fell to third with $13,003.39. Jimmy Twedt dropped to fourth with $12,977.89.
Placing both nights, Reynolds jumped from 10th to sixth in the standings. He has now won $11,455.19.
Josh Baker, of Birch Tree, remains fifth with $11,647.57.
Only two programs remain before the end of the 2007 season. The series visits Springfield on Friday and Saturday.
