Jim Moody and Dustin Boney earned a share of the Impact Sign & Lighting Modified Shootout Series title on Sunday night at Sedalia’s State Fair Speedway.

Both drivers won a race and placed third in the rain-shortened series. Chad Lyle, of Lone Jack, was a close third with 190 points, two behind the leaders.

Boney won the first race of the series June 24. The second race, scheduled for Thursday, was rained out.

Moody, of Odessa, chased down early front-runner David Holder to win Sunday night’s modifieds feature race.

Holder, the pole-sitter, built a large lead by the 16th lap where he spun out on turn three while trying to get past a couple of  lapped cars, according to Racin’ Boys.com.

Boney, of Tonganoxie, Kan., inherited the lead, but his car was running on only five cylinders, according to the Racin’ Boys Web site. After the restart, Moody surged ahead to take the win. Lyle was second and Boney was third.

Local favorite Danny Lasoski, of Dover, won the Winged Outlaw Warriors feature race.

Brian Brown, who drives a car owned by Sedalians Tim and Gina Doogs, took the early lead. Jon Corbin overtook Brown for first place, charging up from the 10th spot.

Lasoski eventually worked his way to the front and cruised to victory. Corbin finished second, Brown was third, Smithton teen Josh Fisher was fourth and Jesse Hockett placed fifth.

Points leader Terry Phillips, of Springfield, won the Midwest Late Model Racing Association feature race, beating fellow Springfield resident Jeremy Payne to the finish line.

Payne took the early lead with Phillips and John Anderson right behind him.

Phillips passed Payne on the 11th lap, taking the lead on turn two. Phillips was never seriously challenged again.

Anderson, who is second in the points race, was third, Al Purkey fourth and Jeremy Grady fifth.
