With 12 top-five finishes overall, the Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers swim team went 1-2 in dual meet action on Tuesday in Warrensburg.

The Lady Tigers had a top-five representative in all 11 events, but couldn’t overcome perennial powerhouses Warrensburg and Pembroke Hill. Despite losing 99-71 to rival Warrensburg and 101-65 to Pembroke Hill, the Lady Tigers salvaged the day with a 115-40 win over West Central Conference foe KC Center.

Jordan Hamby, Becca Petree and Jordan Bush highlighted the individual races as each finished with at least two top-four showings. Hamby finished second in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:25.94) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:35.54), Petree finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.03) and third in the 100-yard backstroke and Bush finished fourth in both the 100-yard freestyle (1:10.71) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:29.55).

Becky Terrell followed up with a third-place showing in the 100-yard butterfly ((1:16.82), Ali Burkholder finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:49.31) and Abby Monsees placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (31.70).

In relay action, Burkholder, Petree, Hamby and Bush finished runners-up in the 4x200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.18 and Burkholder, Terrell, Monsees and Rebekah Hinkle also finished second in the 4x400-yard freestyle in 4:51.92. Petree, Terrell, Bush and Hamby capped off the success with a time of 2:21.00 in the 4x200 yard medley relay.
