Cody Meyer scored the match’s only goal Monday night in Smith-Cotton’s 1-0 win over Clinton.

Meyer’s goal came in the 68th minute on a corner kick. Ricky Bain dribbled into the box and passed to Meyer.

Goalkeeper Ryan Akin made three saves to earn the shutout.

The Tigers outshot Clinton 17-3.

“It was what typically happens for us,” S-C coach Ethan  Weller said. “We controlled the play, but when we got around the goal, we couldn’t find a way to finish.”

The Tigers improved to 10-11 overall and 6-1 in the West Central Conference.

S-C is in the driver’s seat in the conference race, being the only team with just one loss.

The Tigers have three conference games left including home games against O’Hara on Wednesday and Kansas City Center on Thursday. They will wrap up conference play Oct. 26 at Warrensburg.
