Smith-Cotton won its West Central Conference opener on Thursday at KC Center.

Joseph Rodewald scored in the 26th minute off a set-piece assist from Timmy Lor to give the Tigers (3-1, 1-0) a 1-0 halftime lead.

Brandon Ogweno headed home a goal in the 73rd minute off of a corner kick from Zack Volk. One minute later, Lor scored off of a set piece from 25 yards out, curling the ball over the wall into the top left corner of the goal.

The Smith-Cotton JV team won its season-opening match 4-0, with goals scored by Kevin Salas (2), Jose Romero and Jeremy Garcia.
