ROUNDUP: Garr sets Stover scoring record

Candace Garr broke the Stover girls basketball scoring record Wednesday night in the Stover Invitational.
She scored 17 points, pushing her past Marilyn Hall’s record set in 2002.
However, her team wasn’t as fortunate. The Lady Bulldogs lost 55-33 to Laquey, which advanced to the championship game at 8 p.m. Friday. Laquey will meet Iberia in the title game.
Laquey led Stover 27-21 at halftime before pulling away in the second half.
Amber Marriott joined Garr in double figures with 12 points.
Shelbee Cowart scored a game-high 26 points for Laquey.
Stover will face Osage in the consolation final at 5 p.m. Friday.
Smith-Cotton 57, Clinton 47
The Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers improved to .500 with a road win over Clinton on Wednesday night.
Tied at 8 after the first quarter, Smith-Cotton (5-5) outscored Clinton 35-22 in the second and third quarters to build a 12-point lead.
Kristi Miller and Cristian Sharp led all scorers with 13 points each, and Alicia Duncan chipped in 12.
Iberia 46, Cole Camp 33
The Iberia Lady Rangers continued their Cinderella story Wednesday night in the Stover Invitational girls basketball tournament.
The sixth-seeded Lady Rangers upset No. 2 Cole Camp to advance to Friday’s championship game.
Iberia led 19-14 at halftime.
Hattie Duncan and Haley Roark paced Iberia with 10 points each. Kelsey Denney led Cole Camp with eight.
Jenna Cordes added 13 rebounds and six points for Cole Camp. Teammate Erin Rice had six rebounds and a team-high four steals.
Cole Camp will take on Versailles for third place at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Northwest 72, Otterville 42
The Northwest Lady Mustangs advanced to the consolation final of the Otterville Holiday Classic girls basketball tournament on Wednesday night.
No. 4 Northwest led 21-12 after one quarter, 38-21 at halftime and 51-27 after three quarters.
Mariah Wiskur paced Northwest with 19 points. Meredith Norfleet added 17.
Lorelei Schlomer had 16, and Shadow Wiskur scored a season-high 12 for Northwest, which improved to 6-3.
Tori Schoen scored a team-high 19 points for Otterville.
Northwest will play Chilhowee for the consolation trophy at 6 p.m. Friday. Otterville will face Bunceton for seventh place at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Osage 54, Tipton 47
Osage outscored the Tipton girls basketball team 43-33 in the second half Wednesday night to advance to the consolation final of the Stover Invitational. Tipton led 14-11 at halftime.
Ciarra Vaughn scored a game-high 21 points for Osage.
Chelsey Hainen and Summer Lowe scored 10 points each for Tipton, which was eliminated from the tournament.
Chilhowee 61, Bunceton 50
Charity McMurray erupted for 27 points Wednesday night to lead Chilhowee into the consolation final of the Otterville Holiday Classic.
Chilhowee shot out to an 18-5 lead after one quarter of the girls basketball game.
Chilhowee led 30-16 at halftime and 42-30 after three quarters.
April Fountain paced Bunceton with 12 points.
Versailles 65, Stover 49
The Versailles Tigers wrapped up pool play Tuesday in the Stover Invitational girls basketball tournament with a 1-1 record.
The Tigers pulled away in the second half after leading by only three points (24-21) at halftime.
Raven Woods paced Versailles with 24 points. Danielle Cray and Melissa Simon added 14 each.
Candace Garr scored a game-high 28 points for Stover.
St. Paul Lutheran 39, Wellington-Napoleon 27
Third-seeded St. Paul Lutheran took control in the middle quarters of its first-round game in the Lafayette County girls basketball tournament.
The Lady Saints broke a 9-all tie after one quarter, outscoring No. 6 Wellington-Napoleon 11-4 in the second and 12-2 in the third. They took a 32-15 lead into the final period Tuesday night.
St. Paul’s Audrey Mehl posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Cole Camp 62, Tipton 50
Sixth-seeded Cole Camp upset No. 3 Tipton on Tuesday night to advance to the semifinals of the Stover Invitational boys basketball tournament.
Garrett Gilbert scored a game-high 22 points to lead Cole Camp. Tyler Rusk added 12.
Chris Bracht paced Tipton with 20 points. Cody Beyers had 11.
Cole Camp will meet Osage at 7:30 p.m. today. Tipton will face Douglass at 4:30 p.m. today in a consolation game.
Osage beat Douglass 48-16 Tuesday night.
Knob Noster 71, Versailles 53
The Knob Noster boys basketball team shot out to a 24-6 first-quarter lead Tuesday night in Versailles.
The Panthers, who are ranked No. 2 in Class 3, pushed their lead to 40-16 at halftime and led 56-33 after three quarters.
Cullen Rosine paced Knob Noster with 21 points. Brian Hughes added 12, as the Panthers improved to 9-1.
St. Paul Lutheran 52, Concordia 44
St. Paul Lutheran set up a showdown with Higginsville for the right to advance to the final of the Lafayette County boys basketball tournament.
The Saints won their first of two pool play games Tuesday night. They were scheduled to play Higginsville on Wednesday night, with the winner advancing to Saturday’s title game.
St. Paul grabbed an 11-4 lead after one quarter, but Concordia didn’t quit. The Saints held only a one-point advantage (41-40) over the final three quarters.
Jordan Bredehoeft scored a game-high 23 points. He pulled down nine rebounds and had three assists.
Brandon Haake had 12 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Bobby Gieselman paced Concordia with 11 points. Drew Smith added 10.
Wellington-Napoleon beat Lexington 54-29 Tuesday night.
Wellington and Santa Fe were scheduled to play for a berth in the championship game on Wednesday night.
WRESTLING
Fulton 54, Smith-Cotton 6
Jake Schumacher produced Smith-Cotton’s only points in a dual wrestling match Tuesday night at Fulton.
Schumacher won the 145-pound class by forfeit.
