Robert Holmes rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns, and Chris White threw three TD passes Saturday night for Missouri Valley College.

The third-ranked Vikings used big second and third quarters to beat William Jewell 44-17 in a Heart of America Athletics Conferences football game in Marshall.

The score was tied at 3 entering the second quarter.

Holmes, who finished with 131 yards rushing on 15 carries, ran 35 yards on a draw play 2:08 into the quarter to give the Vikings a 10-3 lead after Adrian Trevino made the first of his three extra-point kicks.

White connected with Javion Jones for a 29-yard TD strike with 9:09 left before halftime as the Vikings’ lead grew to 17-3.

White, who went 15-of-26 for 208 yards, hit Jones again near the 2-minute mark, this time for a 37-yard TD.

The Cardinals scored in the final minute of the half to slice their deficit to 24-10 at halftime. Taylor Gallagher hauled in an 8-yard TD pass  from Drew Witman.

The Vikings added 17 more points in the third quarter while holding William Jewell scoreless.

Holmes ran 14 yards for his second TD. Marshall native Paul Wayne Thomas threw to Jacory Lindsey for two points and a 32-10 lead.

Trevino made the second of his three field goals about two minutes later, this one from 30 yards.

White completed a 9-yard pass to Trevor Howard about two minutes later for a 41-10  lead. The Vikings’ 2-point conversion try failed.

William Jewell stopped the bleeding early in the fourth quarter.

Clayton Hewitt intercepted a pass from Thomas and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown.

Trevino made a 24-yard field goal midway through the quarter to complete the scoring.

Troy Green made a 43-yard field goal to give the Cardinals a brief lead in the first quarter, but Trevino converted one from 25 yards about two minutes later to tie the score at 3.

Missouri Valley held the  Cardinals to 140 yards of  total offense while accumulating 393.

William Jewell committed four turnovers — all fumbles — while the Vikings had one turnover.
