The showdown for supremacy in Heart of America Athletic Conference football is only two weeks away.

Both Missouri Valley and MidAmerica Nazarene appear ready for the challenge.

MidAmerica Nazarene beat Evangel 51-7 on Saturday, and the Vikings shut out Central Methodist 35-0 in Marshall.

The two teams, who are both 5-0, will meet at 1 p.m. Oct. 18 in Olathe, Kan.

On Saturday, the Vikings rolled up 387 yards of total offense while holding Central Methodist to 89.

Quarterback Chris White completed 13 of 21 passes for 190 yards including three for touchdowns and one interception.

White and Javion Jones hooked up twice for touchdowns.

Jones scored on a 47-yard pass play with 4:03 left in the first quarter. He scored again on a 5-yard pass with 21 seconds left in the first half, giving the Vikings a 23-0 halftime lead.

White threw his other TD pass to Jonathan Nunez on a 12-yard play with  5:20 left in the second quarter.

Robert Holmes, who ran for 112 yards on 26 carries, scored a TD with 10:29 left in the game on a 1-yard run.

Adrian Trevino, who went 2-for-3 on extra-point tries, made field goals of 23, 40 and 42 yards.

The Missouri Valley defense recorded seven sacks including 2.5 by Jacory Lindsey and two by Bryan Crayton.

Smith-Cotton graduate Andre Smith, made six tackles — four unassisted and two assisted — and he broke up a pass.

Another Sedalia resident, Jesse Putnam, made three tackles, one unassisted and two assisted.

Central Methodist gained only 27 yards rushing on 30 attempts and completed only 10 of 20 passes for 62 yards.

While the Vikings are guaranteed to be unbeaten heading into their showdown against MidAmerica  Nazarene, the Pioneers will travel to Fayette to face Central Methodist at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Vikings have a bye week.
