Jason Arndt not only won the tie-down roping event last weekend, but he was named all-around cowboy at the Federation West Championship Rodeo.

The Fort Scott, Kan., resident won $912 in tie-down roping, taking down his calf in 9 seconds inside Mathewson Exhibition Center.

The cowboy who enters more than one event and wins the most money captures the all-around honor.

Billy Hamilton, of McAlester, Okla., placed second with a time of 10 seconds.

Another Fort Scott cowboy turned in a winning performance.

Jared Keylon won the bareback riding event with a solid score of 85 points. Karlon Knudson, of Arvada, Wyo., and Rusty Stewart, of Diamond, tied for second with 77 points.

Spud Duvall, of Checotah, Okla., won the steer wrestling competition, posting a time of 3.6 seconds. He won a rodeo-best $988 but didn’t qualify for all-around honors because he entered only one event.

Stan Williamson, of Okmulgee, Okla., placed second with a time of 3.9 seconds.

Cody Graham, of Everton, and Gabe Gwaltney, of Carthage, won the team roping competition. They tied down their steer in 5.9 seconds.

Brent Spurgin, of Eminence, and Gerry Lisby, of Ashland, placed second with a time of 6.3 seconds.

Clayton Zibell, of Wann, Okla., won the saddle-bronc riding event, with a score of 76. Sean Prater, of Shidler, Okla., took second with 73 points.

Wes Clancy, of Marshall, finished fourth with 67 points, earning $203.

Rhonda Straw, of Miami, Okla., won the barrell-racing competition. She completed the course in 13.49 seconds.

Laura Swain, of Clarnett, Kan., placed second in 13.59 seconds.

Thad Newell, a Bacone College athlete, won the bull riding event with 76 points. Paul Hixson, of Owasso, Okla., and John Stout, of Barnhill, Ill., tied for second with 74 points.
