COVID case numbers increase by triple digits in Pettis County

Pettis County added 116 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 3,304, according to the Pettis County Health Center.

There are now 759 active cases and 2,519 residents have been released to normal activity. Thirty residents are now hospitalized seeking treatment for the virus. Two residents of Pettis county died over the weekend, bringing the total number of deaths in the county to 32. 

Based on information in Monday’s Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing, as of noon Nov. 30, there are 3,304 cases compared to 3,089 cases on Nov. 23. This is an increase of 215 cases in the past week and 585 cases in the past two weeks. The briefing states these numbers are an improvement, but there are many cases from the holiday weekend that have not yet been counted.

The positivity rate for the week of Nov. 15-21 is 29.65% and the rate is 703.84 per 100,000. There were more tests conducted this week as there was community surveillance. There were 138 Pettis County residents tested at the Missouri State Fairgrounds and 14 were positive.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported a seven-day total of 18,924 cases on Monday or an average of 32,703 per day. There were a total of 53 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Missouri during the last seven days, representing an average of eight deaths per day.
