Two hurt in Johnson accident
Sharon K. Alewine, 74, of Warsaw, received minor injuries, and Paul L. Alewine, 79, of Warsaw received moderate injuries at 9:52 p.m. Thursday in a Johnson County accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Gilbert L. Byekwaso, 49, of Kansas City, Missouri, was driving west on U.S. 50 near Route D in a 2010 Buick Enclave when he attempted to cross U.S. 50 and failed to yield to a 2020 Hyundai Elantra driven by Paul Alewine. Alewine struck the side of Byekwaso’s vehicle.
Byekwaso and Sharon Alewine were wearing seat belts but Paul Alewine was not. The Alewine’s were transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.
